The Princess – Shayla-Rae

dontcallmestepmummy, blended family, mummy blog, the princess

Shayla-Rae is 5 years old and absolutely thriving at school.  As a September baby she was so ready to start and has just gone from strength to strength. We had no idea how she would do as she loves to be in her own little world, but her hard working nature has seen her thrive. She is top of the class which is Year 1. They moved her up from the reception class as she is doing so well.

She won the award at her Nursery graduation for being the ‘star performer’ in her class.  Also, Shayla was in the dance academy show with ‘the eldest’ at our local theatre.  I was so impressed with how we had obliviously put her in for 4 dance numbers (the 3 genres she studies and an extra number) without registering that she was only 4. After a full day of rehearsals and then participating in a nearly 3 hour show on opening night I expected her to be crying through the finale, but there she was still smiling, singing at the top of her lungs.

I think we may have another performer on our hands but am reluctant to push her in any way. She walked the catwalk in a charity fashion show recently and literally stole the night. She had the whole audience in hysterics as she struck a pose and pouted with her teeny tiny frame. So much character, I cannot wait to see how life unfolds for this precious one.

Our time together is usually spent reading, playing games, doing hair and having movie nights.  With her now at school we won’t have as much time on our own together so I will have to find time for Mummy and daughter dates.
